Its a Job!

Penelope-Fawn is a nude model and a porn star. Just those two alone conjure up all kinds of demonic imagery in some people. In others a shudder of revulsion. All negative reactions are by those that have no idea or concept of what it means to work in the nude or adult industry. They get all their information from a media heavily biased in the negative to the nude industry. Or from equally ignorant friends, or from spiritual leaders who know very little about this industry.
So lets clear up the air and explain what being a nude model or a porn star means. Lets be clear. It is a job. A job that you do like any other job. it is different to other jobs, but it is still a job nonetheless. Other unusual jobs are, deep sea welding of oil rigs, astronaut, chicken sexer (is a person who can tell the sex of a chick when they are still very young), Hydrologist, ice sculptor, urine farmer and so much more. Yes they are all unusuals, but they are all jobs. Being a nude model or porn star is also a job.
”it is demeaning or exploitative”, is often the repeated catch-cry of those with little understanding and stereotyped view of the industry. No more or no less than any other job. Isn’t being asked to flip burgers for minimum wage, with a shitty boss screaming at you all day, and horrible customers not demeaning? Isn’t that person being exploited by super rich multinationals? Shouldn’t that person feel ashamed? No more or no less than any other job. It is a JOB!. A job is not something everyone has. It is a means to save up and be able to support yourself and those you love. That is not demeaning. That is called being responsible.
A nude model or a porn star can choose who they wish to work with. They can choose the hours they work. They can choose the number of hours they wish to work. They get an hourly rate far in excess of a minimum wage hourly rate. It is possible for a nude model or porn star to earn in a couple of hours what most people earn in a week. That is not exploited. That is empowering.
It is empowering on a few levels. It makes the model feel great knowing that so many people admire their look. They feel beautiful. It is empowering knowing that you can spend the rest of the week enjoying and living life. That maybe be exercising more, going to the beach more, traveling more, studying more, or just spending more time with family and children. That is definitely empowering.
Another argument used by ignorant people, is that nude models and porn stars are abused or get hassled. People at a call centre are abused and hassled every single hour of every single day. People who work in customer service, will tell you how much they get harassed and abused. Help desks, service counters and so much more. A small percentage of people are rude, nasty and disrespectful no matter where you go. Every occupation will get that.
Quite often the harassment comes from family or friends. The very people models thought they could trust to support them and their new vocation. The negative reaction by family and friends, is just a parrot fashion, conditioned repeating of what they hear from other ignorant friends and media. If they truly understood that posing nude is not demeaning, nor being exploited, then they will see that is is what we have been saying all along. Just another job! A fun job, with so many fringe benefits, like going to the beach while you work, going against the morning traffic flow as you leave the city, going to a beautiful rainforest, or swimming in a natural clear lake. Or staying in a 5 star hotel with amazing service.
Being a nude model requires certain skill sets. It requires time and effort to be good at it. Practice and experience at posing, understanding how lighting works so that as a model, you don’t cast shadows in all the wrong places. It requires discipline to be fit and eat right to be able to stay fit and be able to do and hold certain poses, that require strength or flexibility. Time to prepare for a photo shoot to look your best and so much more.
Then there are those that run nude websites. We are just as legitimate a business as Facebook, Amazon or the NY Times. Size of the business, does not make them less a business, or the fact that they publish nude photos and videos. We run a business like everyone else. We handle staff, set budgets, organise meetings, communicate via email or video conferencing. We are a business like any other.
So the next time you see a nude model, porn star or a nude website. Just remember that they are all legitimate work or businesses and should be treated as such. Everyone is doing it willingly, nobody is coerced or exploited. It is a job or a business. Nothing more, and certainly nothing less.
So Penelope-Fawn, you ARE a Goddess. You are powerful for standing up for your rights. Powerful for deciding your own life and living it the way you wish, despite the nay sayings of ignorant people. Instead of cowering and running away, or giving up at the first sign of negative comments or attitudes, you stand tall, you stand nude in front of the entire world, hold your head high and say.
