Tolerance Might Be The Answer

On many “unofficial” nude beaches, nude sunbathers are relegated to the dunes so that they don’t “cause offense” to non-nudists that might wander by. Melissa-Mendini on the other hand is making beautiful nude art in this dune, which is classed as a “textile” beach. The funny thing is, despite several people being on the beach, no one minded her nudity.

So the old question is what id “offense” and why have they made a law specifically for nudity. We all take offense to something in life, but we understand that not everyone is going to be offended by the same things as you are. So why is nudity the only type of “offense” that gets put into legal matters? Why not foul odours? Certain foods? Or simply the intolerance of some, as examples. Shouldn’t everything be included? Why are my feelings not protected but a gymnophobes is?

The community standards toward nudity has not only shifted, it is still shifting more and more, everyday, toward favouring or at the very least tolerating nudity. That is all that is needed. Tolerance.

If everyone tolerated nudity, just as they tolerate other things in life, then we could all go about our business as usual. There is no reason why people like Melissa-Mendini, couldn’t go nude on any beach. Or walk the dog in the park, or buy some groceries for tonight's dinner. The world we could possibly live in.
