Beauty Of Youth
Blue satin is a series that looks at a few topics. Blue is a colour I have always liked and you will see that I use blue very often in my images. Somehow it is cool and calming, yet elegant and beautiful. Male Bower birds will use blue objects to attract the opposite sex to their nest. It might be seen that Maddy here is doing a role reversal of her own as she attracts male attention with her blue satin bower. However this series is not about attracting sexual partners, nor about mating, but rather the powerful attractant colour can be in nature and even in people. This deep rich blue is a very strong colour that demands attention.
In some circles blue is seen as a colour of trust, honesty and loyalty. From a psychological point of view blue is a colour that many people say is their favourite. Much of the world is blue, such as the skies and oceans, and that produces a calming feeling. However in some people it can send a cold and uncaring feeling if there is too much blue present, such as an overcast day, where everything takes on a blue/grey feel.
Over the centuries blue has taken on the meaning of steadfastness and loyalty, which explains why so any uniforms are blue. Studies have found people are more productive in blue rooms and athletes perform better in blue rooms (such as weight training).
No matter how you look at blue, this series of blue satin with Maddy for me is one of calm and beauty. I hope these photos help show how beautiful the nude form can be and how it can produce a feeling other than sexual energy.
